Yes, if you choose it.

Tier 3: Not US-owned, data in CanadaOwned outside Canada and the United States, with data stored in Canada.

The facts, claim by claim
- Where data is stored
- Canada (Toronto region), two mirrored data centres opened 2022 with Equinix
- Where it is processed
- Canada for the Canadian region
- Support and backups
- Data mirrored between the two Canadian data centres; "no-transmission guarantee" keeps data in the chosen region (Keepit)
- Owner
- Keepit A/S (Copenhagen, Denmark) · Parent country: Denmark
- Servers run by
- Keepit's own private cloud in Equinix (US-owned) facilities · Not a US company
- Customer-held keys
- Not recorded
- Certifications
- Not recorded (blank means not checked, not none)
- Worth knowing
- A non-US option for backing up Microsoft 365, and data stays in Canada.
- Caveats
- The facility operator (Equinix) is US-owned. Keepit runs its own private cloud in it, so Equinix does not hold the data.
What the rules say about this
- Nova Scotia public bodies: Storage and access must both be in Canada: check support access and backups, not only storage.
- Québec Law 25: Canada is not Québec: storage in Toronto still needs a privacy impact assessment for Québec data.
- OCAP®: Data held by any outside vendor is not in the Nation's possession, whoever owns the vendor.
Summaries only; each rule page links the law or regulator. Not legal advice.
